Haile Companion Dog Training was started by Horace Jones in 1984 to assist people and their animals with basic dog care and training. The goal back then was to earn enough money to pay our obedience and sport entry fees, educational seminars, and of course dog food and equipment! At the same time, we were able to help one owner one family and one dog at a time.
It is amazing how things have changed!
Over the past 25 plus years of training dogs, we have had the fortune of working with some of the most highly respected sport trainers in the dog training industry both here in the United States and some from abroad, and we have learned from them all!
Although we still assist our customers one at a time, our mission is now very clearly defined:
Our mission: is to enhance human life with and through the canine animal by modifying its behavior, providing physical demonstrations, teaching people through educational forums, written technical training plans, articles and by sharing our information in a motivational and dynamic manner!
Exactly How do we Differ?
Our uniqueness is not only differentiated by our many years training dogs, but also by our vast array of dog training. We began in competition obedience which set the standard for achieving correctness and precision. The concepts and applications that we learned in those early years is our foundation of what exact and technically correct dog training results look like and that is what we strive to achieve. We have competed in obedience trials and judged in obedience match shows. Yes we know what correctness is and how to achieve it!
However we not only look at obedience as a competition but we also train service dogs where reliable obedience truly counts!
Our group clases get the most attention and is extremely popular because we train in community locations where it matter most to families and owners! Our students don't just parade around an enclosure with minimal engagment and attention from a single instructor.
Our multiple trainers can be seen with our bright safety green shirts working, teaching and challenging our owners and canine students in real life situations.
Yes, we do grab attention and stand out!!! And it is fun! But, each and every handling skill is addresssed repeatedly so the owner/handler can aquire the skills and confidence necessary to understand how to handle their animals under most any and all circumstances!
Our ability to handle extremely dominant and aggressive dogs stems from our many years in the protection sport of Schutzhund.
Working as a Certified Club Helper, Regional Trial Helper and Co-training Director of a very successful Schutzhund club and working with many different breeds has prepared us for those cases that most obedience trainers simply can not and should not handle!
As a result, this experience has taught us how to handle highly aggressive animals with intense drives. Teaching dogs how to physically bite and learning how to psychologically encourage and build their confidence to bite, for sport requirements has given us a strong understanding when a family pet or companion has mis-directed aggression.
As a result, we specialize in handling and training animals with major dominant and aggressive behaviors. We address the behavioral issue but we also provide the owner of these animals a very detailed comprehensive report to help them better understand how to safely harbor and manage a dominant aggressive animal. We instill confidence with owners because we show them exactly how to handle their animal. Theory can not help these owners or their dogs.
